MealTrac, the Inmate Double Back Prevention System from Unisoft Systems Associates is designed to help correctional facilities manage their food budgets. MealTrac combines the latest hardware and software technologies to effectively provide a low cost sentry on every food line.  With some institutions estimating upwards to thirty percent of inmates double back through the food lines, the potential savings by eliminating this practice is enormous.

Let's take a look at a conservative scenario.  If your prison population is 1000, your budget for daily inmate meals is $2.50 and 10% of inmates double back through the food lines, the per day cost to your institution is $250.  The annual cost is $91,250.  MealTrac will make it easier for you to stay within budget by saving these dollars for you.

Here's how it works! Each food line, to be monitored, has a bar code scanner located at the beginning of the line. Each inmate's identification card is scanned as the inmate passes through the line.  The data is transmitted to the computer located away from the line.  The software on the computer checks each inmate record to determine the inmate status for that meal.  If the inmate has already eaten or is at the wrong line, a loud audio signal is returned to the scanner.  A record is made of the transaction for use in incident reporting. The entire process takes less than three seconds.

A second option is to leave the signal off, but generate a report at the end of the meal showing those inmates who went through the line more than once.  Among the management reports available are Double Back Activity, Wrong Line, Summary By Line and ID History.

MealTrac can support multiple lines operating simultaneously.    MealTrac does not require any inmate set up information.  MealTrac uses the data on the inmate ID card to track food line activity .

As part of the purchase, Unisoft Systems provides a total turnkey system.  This includes the computer, bar code scanners and audio signal units.  Turnstiles can be added to the system for additional traffic control.
